The Lithuanian Junior Track and Field Championships took place in Klaipeda over the weekend, where a group of students from the Panevėžys Sports Centre competed against nearly 600 athletes.
The people of Panevėžys came home with a silver and a bronze medal, and after summarizing the results of the cities, Panevėžys took fifth place. The Panevėžys Sports Centre also took fifth place.
This time, the hammer throwers performed the best and even won two awards. In the hammer throw Paulius Binkis took second place, throwing the tool 56 m 86 cm. Mindaugas Chereska, who participated in the same event, took third place. The athlete’s time was 51 m 91 cm. Smiltė Paukštytė completed the 100 m distance in 12.74 seconds. And took second place. Patricija Grigalionytė, who participated in the same event, crossed the finish line for the sixth time. In the 200 m distance, Kasparas Bremer took third place. The athlete’s time was 22.75 seconds. Aidas Amokas, who participated in the same event, took seventh place, and Benas Malinauskas took tenth place. Benas Malinauskas took third place in the 400 m distance. The athlete’s time was 52.24 seconds. The 4x100m relay team of Gilija Mėlynytė, Patricija Grigalionytė, Emilija Celiešiūtė and Smiltė Paukštytė finished fifth, while the men’s team of Aretas Gasiūnas, Aidas Armokas, Martynas Klimavičius and Kasparas Breimelis finished seventh. In the high jump, Gilija Melinit finished sixth, and in the long jump, Lapolas Yukenius finished seventh.
