The survey data showed that the most pessimistic view of war in Lithuania is among people aged 55-64, with residents of Klaipeda County being more common. On the other hand, people in Vilnius, i.e. those with less education and young people in the 16-34 and 45-55 age groups, believe that the possibility of war is low or very low.
In the survey, it is clear that the ongoing war in Ukraine is the topic that worries Lithuanians the most – more than a third of Lithuanians are worried about it.
Kristina Lymantaitė, director of the Crisis Management Center, noted that even if news about the war is avoided, nearby wars will have an impact on it.
“It’s clear that the war next door has a huge impact on our psychological state, even if we avoid news or thoughts about it,” the report quoted her as saying.
While older residents of Lithuania are concerned about the threat of war, young people in the 16-24 age group say that the biggest concern is savings and the lack of it. The study shows that 27% of people in this age group are worried about this.
A representative online survey of Lithuanian residents was conducted from June 6 to 11 this year. During the survey, 508 people aged between 16 and 64 were interviewed.
