WATCH: Police continue search for missing British teenager in Tenerife
The father of missing British teenager Jay Slater says it “makes no sense” that his son went missing in Tenerife.
The 19-year-old from Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, disappeared a week ago while on holiday on Spain’s largest Canary Island and has not been found.
Police used helicopters, search dogs and drones in the search for 19-year-old Slater. He was last heard from when he called his friend Lucy Law on Monday morning.
Slater disappeared after missing his bus and trying to walk back to his home.
His father, Warren Slater, spoke at the village of Santiago del Teide. told Manchester Evening News: “At first I thought it was a boy who had gotten lost while walking, or maybe he had fallen.
“But that doesn’t make sense. No one would go that way. Why would he go uphill?”
“You think, did somebody catch him? Because whether you were drunk or whatever, you wouldn’t leave that trail.
“I knew as soon as I got there he wasn’t going to (go off the trail). He wasn’t stupid. When I saw the police I asked them seriously, ‘Are you going to go off the trail?’ I think that woke them up a little bit.”
on Sunday, Rescue teams narrowed the search to small buildings It was very close to where Slater’s phone last rang.
National Guard officers could be seen surrounding two buildings at the bottom of a ravine in Teno Country Park.
Slater’s friend Law set up a fundraiser On GoFundMeThe campaign, called ‘Bring Jay Slater Home’, has so far raised more than £32,000 in donations.
As the search continues, here are some theories about the teen’s disappearance.
Kidnapped
Slater’s mother, Debbie Duncan, flew to Tenerife on Tuesday to join the search. Tell the Daily Mail Thursday she feared her son might have been kidnapped.
Slater allegedly called his friend Lowe around 8:30 a.m. on Monday and told her he was “lost in the mountains, not paying attention to his surroundings, in desperate need of water and his phone had only 1 percent battery left.”
He was last seen in the remote Rural de Teno Park, returning to a rented apartment with two men who had attended the NRG festival with him.
Duncan said: “If anyone catches him, let him go, he’s not a bad guy, maybe he made friends with some strangers.
“If he was lost then why hadn’t anyone seen him? There were lots of hikers and holidaymakers there and if he was lost then someone would have seen him so I thought he might have been dropped off somewhere.”

In an interview with GB News On Thursday, Canarian Weekly editor Chris Elkington suggested Slater may have “veered off course” when he tried to return to his residence on Monday morning.
“The route is very strange. If you put the route into your phone it takes you the opposite direction around the island.
“That’s why he was walking towards the village park instead of towards where he lived.
“The worrying thing is that he’s strayed off the trail. This area is very barren and dry, with temperatures in the high 20s, and if you stray off the trail it’s easy to get lost or trip.”

Injuried
Law, the last person to speak to Slater, told Sky News that Slater had “cut his leg on a cactus and didn’t know where he was”.
His injuries may have been aggravated as he had no food or water and was wearing only a T-shirt and shorts.

“It’s hot during the day and cold at night. So if he doesn’t drink water during the day, he’ll be hot, and if he doesn’t wear the right clothes at night, he’ll be cold.”
