USA – It was a hard-fought win for the Aztecs over the Jamaicans.
The first day of Group B of the 2024 Copa America was held at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas, USA, with the Mexican national team defeating Jamaica 1-0.
The trio was slightly more dominant in this duel, as they had possession but some of the Caribbeans tried to do damage with quick counterattacks, but the first half ended goalless.

The second half continued the trend, although this time the Mexicans were more aggressive in attack and a goal seemed only a matter of time.
The only goal of the duel came in the 69th minute, when the ball was passed to Gerardo Arteaga, who shot with his left foot without a second thought, leaving the Jamaican goalkeeper with no choice.
Mexico actually needed time in the end but it was enough for them to secure the first three points and their next game will be against Venezuela on Wednesday, while Jamaica will face Ecuador in their second game.
