Arvin Boolell announces 43-hour budget debate

Dr. Alvin Blair held a press conference on Tuesday accompanied by several opposition MPs including Paul Berenger. He announced that Opposition Whip Patrick Asilwarden and Government Chief Whip Kavi Durub met and agreed on the budget debate. There will be a total of 43 hours of debate, including 26.2 hours for the government and 16.2 hours for the opposition.

Generally, each member of the opposition party has 39 minutes to speak, but it should be noted that the leader of the opposition, the prime minister and the finance minister do not have speaking time.

“I hope the speaker and the leader of the House will respect this agreement,” Alvin Blair said.
