MTC announced a donation of N$115,000 to the 2024 Lüderitz Crayfish Festival, which is scheduled to take place on the Lüderitz waterfront from April 29 to May 5.
The sponsorship marks MTC’s eighth partnership with the festival.
MTC stressed that it provides N875,000 in sponsorship annually to various trade shows across the country to “continue to have a positive impact on social and economic development programmes”.
“The festival positions the town of Lüderitz as a major contributor to the region’s economic transformation and is the flagship business forum organized by the Lüderitz Town Council to promote and advance local business development initiatives, providing both macro and micro businesses with an excellent opportunity to market and sell their products and exchange innovative business ideas,” the MTC said in a statement.
Part of the journey
MTC Corporate Affairs Manager John Ekongo described the festival as “one of the fastest growing festivals in the country”.
He added: “We recognise the growth that the Lüderitz Crayfish Festival has achieved over the years and we are honoured to be part of it, opening up an environment that promotes business and entrepreneurship, leading to greater socio-economic benefits.”
He thanked the festival committee for allowing MTC to “sponsor and participate in this event again.”
He praised the town council leadership for encouraging innovative ways to keep the festival relevant.
“We have witnessed transformative growth in the festival and we hope that the organisers will continue to innovate and continue to attract Namibians to this coastal town,” Ekongo added.
