In recent years, the restructuring of the energy industry has emerged. We are experiencing the so-called energy transition, which means that the energy industry is moving away from traditional fossil energy sources (oil, gas, coal) to more sustainable and renewable energy carriers. Large companies can keep up with this restructuring if they follow the trend, introduce the best technologies and teach colleagues how to use these tools. New methods must be passed on not only to experienced employees, but also to new generations of employees so that the workplace is safe, economical and sustainable.
The energy transition will have a significant impact on society and, therefore, on the labour market: new and different types of professionals will be needed, in many cases with specific practical knowledge. For example, the “greening” of chemicals and fuel production, and the production of new types of materials – as is already happening at MOL Petrolkémia.
The Tiszaújváros plant of MOL Petrolkémia Zrt. is the leading chemical industrial complex not only in the country but also in the region. The plant mainly produces raw materials for plastics (polypropylene and polyethylene) from chemical gasoline produced at the Danube refinery, but also produces raw materials for rubber production (butadiene and synthetic rubber, quenching oil). Among the recently handed over polyol complexes – By the way, this is the largest organic investment ever made in the country – for example, raw materials for mattresses and sponges are being manufactured.
The company’s current direction (and also a challenge for the labor market) is to train a suitable team of experts and supply them with greening their activities, recycling waste generated during production and testing new materials. This is how we are at the forefront of dual training.
Dual training is a practical and particularly effective form of education, the essence of which is that professional education and higher education training take place in the same company from the very beginning. Students not only get to observe the processes in a specific department up close, but also gain work experience, and the company offers them a salary in exchange for their work. The employment contract welcomes already graduated students with open arms, which is a fruitful cooperation between educational institutions, students and companies.
MOL Plc. has established a dual training model – both secondary and higher education – with 12 educational institutions across the country. –With 35 permanent lecturers, full-time teaching staff, workshops and a support system for vocational training. MOL has invested a lot of money in the form: the cost of the training workshops created by the MOL Group in Dunai Finomito (Százhalombatta) and MOL Petrolkémia is about HUF 1 billion, and the amount of about HUF 500 million is spent annually on training to maintain knowledge transfer, high level theory and practice.
In Tisau New Town, the sixth year of school started this year with a dual education system.
There are chemical technicians, mechanical technicians, mechanical engineering technicians, electronics technicians, mechatronics technicians and electricians, and in higher education there are mechanical engineers, chemical engineers and electrical engineers.
Students work closely with MOL colleagues to solve real challenges and bring new, innovative ideas to everyday life with their generation’s unique perspective.
