MEMPHIS, Tenn. (LPL) — Two fishermen on Granada Lake rescued dozens of dogs in the middle of the water.

The two friends were about a mile into the lake in their boat when the unusual incident occurred.

According to rescuers Bob Gist and Brad Carlisle, the two dogs were navigating the water when they spotted something strange.

To their surprise, they saw that it was the dogs that were swimming, with only their heads sticking out, and it was obvious that they were lost and couldn’t find the shore.

A total of 38 dogs were rescued, apparently from a hunting party near the lake, as the animals were collared and painted white for identification.

The dogs were in the water for 45 minutes to an hour.
