99.97%: According to (unofficial) data analysis, this is the chance that the Swiss national team will advance to the round of 16 at the 2024 European Championship. Switzerland will almost certainly reach the knockout stage in the final for the sixth time in a row. From first to third place, everything is still possible for the national teams in Group A. We clarify:

Rank 1: Win against home team

  • The math is pretty simple: If Switzerland wins their final group game against Germany on Sunday night in Frankfurt, they will be top of the group. If the national team loses, Germany will be top of the group.
  • If they eventually win first place, the Swiss team’s journey will continue in Dortmund. The second round of the round of 16 will be held at Dortmund Stadium at 9 pm on June 29.
  • The opponents are the runners-up of Group C – the top four teams of England/Slovenia/Denmark/Serbia.

Rank 2: A draw is certainly enough

  • Switzerland drew with Germany and advanced as second in the group.
  • Regardless, Murat Yakin’s side will surely fall further down the table. Because compared to Scotland, it is the goal difference that ultimately matters. And in this regard, Switzerland (+2) has a clear advantage over Scotland (-4).
  • The national team will go to the Berlin Olympic Stadium with the baggage of the second place. At 6 pm on June 29, the round of 16 will face the runner-up of Group B. The opponent is likely to be Spain or Italy.

Ranking 3: 4 points is enough

  • Even third place would be enough for Switzerland to advance. In the last two rounds, 4 points would be enough to avoid relegation.
  • When, how and where things will continue is unclear. In general, the four third-placed teams with the best results in the group advance to the knockout stage.
  • The third-placed team in Group A could face the following opponents and venues: the Group B winner in Cologne on June 30, the Group F winner in Frankfurt on July 1, or the Group E winner in Munich on July 2.
