In a presentation at the 10th Jamaican Diaspora Biennial Conference held at the Montego Bay Convention Centre, participants stressed that electronic passports facilitate smoother immigration checks at airports.
The inclusion of electronic features supports the use of automated kiosks and electronic gates, thus speeding up the entry and exit process for passengers.

Despite the launch of the e-passport on March 31, 2023, many Jamaicans abroad continue to use the older manual passports.

The agency facilitates the submission of applications through overseas missions, ensuring that renewals are managed efficiently even for those who are unable to process their applications during their visit to Jamaica.
