Nomination day for Toledo East constituency is set for July 2, by-election to be held on July 17 – Love FM Belize News & Music Power

In two weeks, on July 2, the Elections and Boundaries Commission will hold a Nomination Day for Toledo East. No official announcement has been made by the relevant authorities, but Prime Minister John Briceno has confirmed the by-election date to the media, while an anonymous source also confirmed the nomination date. Toledo East has been without a district representative since the death of the late Mike Esparte on April 22. Three candidates are vying to replace Esparte in the House of Representatives, namely Dr. Osmond Martinez of the People’s United Party, Dennis Williams of the United Democratic Party, and Will Mahia of the People’s National Party. After the Nomination Day process is completed, the by-election will be held on July 17. Toledo East is made up of 21 villages and the town of Punta Gorda, with nearly 8,000 registered voters.
