“The voting process was conducted correctly, but the mayor’s office had organizational problems”

George Tuşă, the joint PSD-PNL candidate who won the local elections for the 1st District Town Hall, made a statement in an interview with CNN Antena 3 TV station about the presidential elections and the nomination of PSD and PNL candidates.

“The level of the elections cannot be compared. One is a candidate for the General Council, even though it is the most important position after the president”.

George Tusa said each party will have a presidential candidate. The PNL will hold a meeting in early July to appoint a candidate. But he also announced that the two sides will hold a technical debate on Wednesday, June 19.

Regarding the local elections for Bucharest’s First District Town Hall, the winning candidate claimed that the electoral procedures were conducted correctly but accused Mayor Clotilde Armand of subjecting employees to inhumane conditions.

“The problem in the first district was the organization of the city hall, which did not send cars to transport people to pass the minutes, but made them wait in the polling stations for 4 to 5 hours without water and food. Then they crowded everyone in front of the election office and did not hand over these polling stations until Wednesday, 72 hours later, in some inhuman conditions.”

The mayor-elect also reported that for the first time in Romanian history, only five ballots were registered in one electoral district. One ward had five separate ballot boxes.

“It is important to understand that what happened in District 1 is over. I proposed that a transition committee be formed because there is a problem here as well because no action was taken on the construction sites in District 1.”

George Tusa claims that the center for special children requires 3 million lei, while the construction site is empty because the suspension of work has affected traffic in the north of the capital, where 5,000 residents were expected to take their children to schools and kindergartens, and work has been interrupted, including at the Basilescu Theater.
