BANJALUKA – Republika Srpska Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Savo Minic expects wheat harvest to start in full swing within the next seven days.
Minick said wheat is a commodity and its price cannot be influenced.
“What we can do is say before sowing that we will give an incentive of 500 kilometres per hectare and rebate the fuel from 0.80 kilometres per litre,” Minic said.
He estimated that the average yield was five tons per hectare, which was not considered high.
“This year we have good wheat quality, a stable harvest and prices that we cannot influence,” Minik stressed to RTRS.
The ministers concerned noted the importance of ensuring production, a view supported by the Republika Srpska, as weather conditions were unpredictable and it would be difficult for any State to compensate farmers for all the losses they suffered.
