Army spokesman Yahya Sari made the announcement on Sunday, saying a U.S. destroyer and two vessels linked to Israel were targeted during recent operations in the Red and Arabian seas.
Sarri said the US destroyer was hit by multiple ballistic missiles in the Red Sea. The two ships, named “Captain Paris” and “Happy Vulture” by Yemeni officials, were attacked by naval missiles and drones in the Arabian Sea.
The spokesman said in a statement that the two ships were attacked because they were heading to a port in the Israeli-occupied territory.
Sarri reiterated Yemen’s position that it will continue to attack Israeli-related ships until the Israeli regime stops its genocidal war on Gaza and lifts the siege on the Palestinian territories.
He also said the army would continue to defend Yemeni territory against aggression by the United States and Britain, which have been carrying out joint air strikes on Yemen since mid-January on the pretext of protecting international shipping.
Yemen has rejected their claims, saying its military operations in international waters since mid-November have only targeted Israeli ships or any vessels heading to Israeli-occupied ports.
