Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan speaks at the Ukraine Peace Summit in Bürgenstock, canton Nidwalden, Switzerland yesterday.
Hakan Fidan recalled that the devastating war in central Europe has lasted for more than two years, saying that the death toll has exceeded 500,000 and the war has turned into a war of escape.
Hakan Fidan said the war had heightened global tensions, exacerbated polarization and drawn attention to the fact that the conflict between Ukraine and Russia could quickly turn into something bigger than war.
“Today’s meeting could be the last exit before the bridge,” Hakan Fidan reported.
Hakan Fidan expressed Turkey’s full support for the international community’s efforts to achieve a fair and permanent solution to the issue, and expressed Turkey’s support for ending the issue through diplomacy and negotiations as soon as possible.
Hakan Fidan pointed out that Turkey has been actively involved in diplomatic efforts since the beginning of the war. He said: “The Istanbul talks in March 2022 and the Black Sea Gala transit initiative are important signs that diplomacy and negotiations can bear fruit. Turkey, as always, is willing to promote this process.”
Hakan Fidan said Turkey will continue to work for peace, saying: “Turkey continues to firmly support Ukraine’s territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence. Our concept of peace is real, comprehensive, feasible and important. We are determined to develop a roadmap to this end. As Erdogan said, there are no losers in a just peace.
On the other hand, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan held a meeting with Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein within the framework of the summit.
