Imagination: Central to Coping with LossThe Mountainside-based training organization said in response to the heightened interest in its training courses and the attention it has received since the passage of NJ-S30, the Grief Act, it will offer a new three-day training course for grief specialists.
Imagine Training and Education Director Veronica Ortiz has had a full and successful year, conducting many training sessions in schools, organizations and workplaces.
The complete training consists of four courses:
- 101: Understanding Loss, Grief, and Mourning;
- 201: Delving into grief through an intersectional lens;
- 301: Skill Development, Planning and Application;
- Imagined loss and grief specialist training.
Imagine plans to offer all four courses from July 31 to August 2 to interested community members.
Social workers who attend the training will receive six continuing education credits on the first day of training, including 101, 201, and 301. The next two days of training provide participants with the opportunity to become experts in loss and grief.
Imagine’s Loss and Grief Specialist Training is experiential and creates space for reflection on personal and professional loss. The training is designed to run like a grief peer support group, with participants having the opportunity to share their own loss stories and become familiar with and practice the companionship techniques used by Imagine’s support groups. The training will equip participants with the tools and knowledge to help those who are grieving in personal and/or professional settings.
