However, the study used a range of indicators to assess London’s economic attractiveness, including tuition fees, McDonald’s Big Mac (which economists call the Big Mac Index) and the Mercer Cost of Living Rankings.

In fact, London ranks eighth in the top ten most expensive cities in Europe, but its score isn’t that bad when looking at the Big Mac Index.

This long-standing McDonald’s hot-selling product costs £4.49 in the UK, just 0.4% higher than the current price of $5.69 in the United States.

The UK capital scored highly in other areas. Notably, the city’s openness to international students and strong graduate employment opportunities helped it consolidate its top spot for another year, while students currently studying in London rated the city highly for its excellent cultural, economic and educational opportunities.

Additionally, a number of London-based universities feature in the institution-specific rankings, including Imperial College London in second place and University College London in ninth place.
