“I will never forgive my son”
A few days ago, Joe Biden’s son was convicted of illegal gun possession. The sentence was upheld until the US president’s G7 summit in Italy.

U.S. President Joe Biden confirmed that he does not want to pardon his convicted son Hunter or commute his sentence. “I said I would abide by the jury’s decision. I’m going to do it. I’m not going to pardon him,” Biden said during a news conference in Fasano, southern Italy, on Thursday when asked about the process by reporters on the sidelines of the G7 summit.
Biden also made it clear that he did not want to commute his son’s sentence. When asked if he planned to do so, Biden answered “no,” according to reporters present.
Biden ‘very proud’ of son
Earlier this week, a Delaware jury found Hunter Biden guilty of making false statements when purchasing a gun in October 2018 and concealing his drug addiction at the time. He denies providing false information and illegally purchasing and possessing the weapon. He faces several years in prison. The 54-year-old will not have to go to jail because he has no criminal record. The verdict will be announced at a later date – a date has not yet been set.
Biden has made it clear he wants no involvement in the case. The 81-year-old stressed in Italy that he is “very proud” of his son. “He has overcome his addiction and is one of the smartest, most decent people I know.” Biden is hoping to be re-elected in November to defeat his Republican predecessor, Donald Trump.
Two weeks ago, Trump was found guilty in the so-called hush money trial in New York. Here, the verdict is still pending. After the guilty verdict, Trump called the judiciary “corrupt” and portrayed himself as the opera of an alleged political “witch hunt.”
