Chatunga Bellarmine Mugabe, son of former Zimbabwean leader Robert Mugabe, has been arrested in Beitbridge for acts of violence.

The incident took place at a roadblock in Bubi, about 80 kilometres north of the border town, where Mugabe allegedly attacked a policeman.

Beitbridge police have confirmed the arrest of Mugabe but have not provided further details.

According to sources, Mugabe arrived at the roadblock at 6am accompanied by a Chinese driver and became agitated when asked to show his vehicle documents.

He reportedly yelled at police and violently grabbed a support unit officer, ripping off his shirt buttons.

He then allegedly brandished an okapi knife before being subdued and detained at Beitbridge Rural Police Station for further processing.

Chatunga Mugabe is the second son of Robert Mugabe. His two brothers are Robert Jr and Bonar.
