The Army’s 2024 inter-regimental combat shooting competition came to a successful conclusion

On August 30, 2024, the certificate and trophy presentation ceremony for the Sri Lanka Army Inter-Regimental Live-Fire Competition was held at the Sri Lanka Military Academy’s China-Lanka Friendship Auditorium. Sri Lanka Army Chief of Staff Major General Rohita Aluvihale attended the event as the guest of honor.

The competition was jointly organized by the Sri Lanka Army Small Arms Association and the Marksman and Sniper Training School and was held at the Diyatalawa Shooting Range from August 16 to 25, 2024. A total of 37 teams from 23 regiments participated in the competition, covering open, novice and regimental levels.

The following corps and players excelled in their respective categories:

1. Open Team Championship
o Champion: Special Forces
o Runner-up: Gajaba Corps
2. Rookie Team Championship
o Champion: Special Forces
o Runner-up: Commando
3. Service Corps Championship
o Champion: Sri Lanka Army Military Police
o Runner-up: Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps
4. All-around best scorer: Corporal HAT Sandakalum of 3 special forces
5. Best Flagship Commander Shooter: Commodore HAANC Prabhat RSP USP
6. Most Talented Senior Officer: Lieutenant Colonel DCSK Athukorala RSP, Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment
7. Best Female Shooter: Corporal KDMD Dissanayake of the Sri Lankan Army Women’s Corps
8. Top Scorer in the Novice Category: Lieutenant PWSN Jayasingha of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment
