Utah Hockey has signed the 35-year-old defenseman to a one-year, two-way contract Robert Bortuzzo.
The veteran completed last season New York Islandersafter being traded by the St. Louis Blues for a seventh-round draft pick. Bortuzzo has been with the Blues since March 2015.
In 560 NHL games, he totaled 20 goals and 74 points, in addition to 511 penalty minutes.
Last season, he did not score in 27 games. Injuries caused him to miss about 30 games.
Drafted by: Pittsburgh Penguins Bortuzzo won the 2019 Stanley Cup with the Blues in 2007. He played in 60 playoff games during his career on the Bettman Tour.
Bortuzzo has not played in an American League game since the 2012-2013 season.
Taylor Johnson to stand trial in Boston
The Boston Bruins announced Saturday that forward Tyler Johnson has agreed to a professional tryout.
Johnson, a 34-year-old veteran, has spent the past three seasons in a Chicago Blackhawks uniform. Last season, he scored 17 goals and 31 points in 67 games.
In 2023-2024, he completed the final year of his seven-year contract with an average annual salary of $5 million.
In 738 NHL games, Johnson scored 193 goals and 431 points. He had his best season of his career in 2014-2015, scoring 72 points in 77 games with the Tampa Bay Lightning.
He also won the Stanley Cup championship in 2020 and 2021 with the team.
