Santiago. – In order to act in accordance with the guidelines established by Dominican legislation and in a responsible and transparent manner, the legal team of Abel Martínez began a few weeks ago to establish the authenticity of the paternity of the minor who resides in the United States.

In this sense, lawyer Rafael Ceballos reports that “during the campaign, news emerged about the possible existence of Abel Martínez’s son. Faced with this situation, Martínez assumed the corresponding financial responsibilities, including monthly payments and support for his mother, and informed her that once the campaign is over, he will initiate the necessary legal procedures to clarify the situation and comply not only with the provisions of the law, but also establish coexistence between the two for the well-being of the minor.”

“After the event, Abel Martinez went to the Boys, Girls and Teens Administration and asked to initiate paternity proceedings to determine if he was the father of the child and, if so, all the corresponding legal responsibilities. Therefore, as a legal team, we began legal proceedings and subpoenaed the mother of the minor, filing a complaint with the public authorities to determine paternity, confident that we would quickly execute a consensual process. In response, the mother made false statements in a public video,” Ceballos said in the press release.

Rafael Ceballos assured that “Abel Martínez’s position was clear from the beginning: he went to the competent authorities before the mother reacted, because my client wanted to make the situation transparent and, in the event of confirmation of paternity, guarantee the rights of the minor as a child, in accordance with the law, and establish the coexistence system established by the authorities for boys, girls and adolescents. In addition, he reiterated that the minor’s mother had been legally informed of the proceedings and the corresponding summons issued to the competent authorities.
