The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology President Nancy Ip led a delegation this weekVisit Jiangsu ProvinceThe delegation includes 20 HKUST Shenzhen technology start-ups, which will be matched with key Wuxi enterprises and participate in the innovation and technology exhibition in Nanjing. The fields involved include electronics, big data, environmental technology, robotics research and development, and life health. Among them, Atom Semiconductor Technology Co., Ltd., founded by Professor Yuan Jie, Associate Dean (Research and Graduate Studies) of HKUST School of Engineering,Atomic semiconductorsigned an investment contract with Wuxi Xinwu District, and settled in Wuxi to expand its business.

Wuxi Economic Development Zone supports industry-university-research cooperation

In addition, HKUST signed a cooperation agreement with Wuxi Economic Development Zone, which will provide funding to HKUST to support the operation of the Wuxi-Hong Kong Collaborative Innovation Center. Both parties will also select a group of high-quality enterprises and outstanding innovative and entrepreneurial teams to incubate in Hong Kong and provide funding to each team to support the development of start-ups.

At the same time, Wuxi Economic Development Zone will provide industry-university-research cooperation and policy support in the local area to encourage mature teams and enterprises to start businesses and transform scientific research results in Wuxi. In addition, HKUST will continue to organize teachers and students to conduct field trips in Wuxi and hold innovation and entrepreneurship competitions.
