Last May, the TikTok platform launched the TikTok Change Makers program, focusing on content creators who have made a social impact.
In a statement, the platform said it sees touching and heroic videos every day that make an impact online and beyond.
The program includes six months of support to create engaged communities to reach new audiences and “unlock real-world opportunities through tools, resources, and donations provided exclusively to designated nonprofits, enabling them to drive even greater growth and impact around their causes.”

TikTok selected 50 creators from around the world, 10 of which are from the U.S. One of the selected is Eli Virkina, an Ecuadorian from Arizona whose content focuses on ecology, specifically the Ecuadorian jungle.
In the brief description, it is mentioned that Eli is from the Napo River and is “a passionate defender of the Amazon rainforest and indigenous communities. She is a storyteller, environmental educator, and community organizer. Through impactful videos, Eli educates audiences about the critical issues facing the Amazon and the people who call it home.”
She is mentioned in various biographies as belonging to the Kichwa Santu Urku community and describes herself as an artist, environmental scientist and defender of indigenous rights. She is also the director of the Iyarina Station, which is dedicated to biocultural conservation and the preservation of Amazonian indigenous cultures and languages.
He came to Ecuador as a child because his father was a missionary doctor, and he attended high school in Quito before coming to the United States to train in linguistics and get a doctorate in religious studies. (Britain)
