Former Sweden coach Andersson, 61, had been in talks with the NFF and was expected to be the country’s coach, with compatriot Peter Wettergren as his assistant.
But due to “personal commitments”, the Swedish player will not be available until November.
Despite accepting a lucrative offer, two-time Nations Cup winner, 55-year-old Renard, has failed to formulate plans to sign a contract, forcing the Nigeria Football Federation to look elsewhere for Finidi George’s successor.
Former Super Eagles striker George resigned earlier this year following a poor start to World Cup qualifying, having signed a two-year contract but played just two games.
The failure to sign Renard and Anderson comes as a huge blow to Nigeria Football Federation president Ibrahim Gusso as he had been in intensive talks with both camps.
In a race against time, the Nigeria Football Association has opened talks with Labbadia, former Sunderland, Brighton and Greece manager Poyet, Karanka, who previously coached Nottingham Forest and Middlesbrough, and former Italy captain Fabio Cannavaro.
But Labbadia is the preferred choice because he holds a UEFA Pro coaching license and has coached Hertha Berlin, Wolfsburg, Hamburg and Leverkusen in his native Germany.
“The Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation has approved the recommendation of its Technical and Development Subcommittee to appoint Mr Bruno Labbadia as the Head Coach of the Super Eagles. The appointment is effective immediately,” said the Federation’s Secretary General, Mohammed Sanusi, in a statement.
