televisionThe Barbados Meteorological Service (BMS) is closely monitoring the progress of a tropical wave that was located near 38W in the central tropical Atlantic Ocean or approximately 2250 km east of Barbados at 11 a.m. today. The wave is currently moving toward the west-northwest at 10-15 mph.
Based on its current path, the system is expected to reach our area sometime between Monday, September 2nd and Tuesday, September 3rd.
BMS advises that moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorm activity are possible during this period and related watches or warnings may be issued as needed.
The forecaster also said that there will be light winds for the rest of the week and into the weekend. This will result in uncomfortable temperatures across the island. In addition, isolated (shower) activity is likely over western and northwestern areas in the afternoon. The Bureau of Meteorology added that the likelihood of flash flooding is higher in the coming days, given that some areas are likely to become further saturated.
