The 2024 Paris Paralympic Games will feature Pacific athletes in every sport, with the first competition set to begin on August 30.
In the Para Taekwondo competition, Solomon Jagiri from Solomon Islands will lead the way in the Men’s K44 – 63 kg category. He will be followed by Herae Loi from Papua New Guinea in the Men’s K44 – 70 kg category, Junita Tomowane from Solomon Islands in the Women’s K44 – 65 kg category and Irene Mar from Fiji in the Women’s K44 – 57 kg category.
Para Taekwondo will make its debut at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, a hugely significant event for these athletes. As the second contact sport in the Paralympic programme, it provides a great opportunity for athletes with upper limb impairments to showcase their skills on the international stage.
In Para athletics, Solomon Islands’ Cosmol Maefolia will compete in the men’s F38 javelin at the Stade de France in another pivotal moment for Pacific athletes.

- September 5:
- Athletics for People with Disabilities: Elie Enock (Vanuatu), Naibili Vatunisolo (Fiji), Selina Seau (Fiji) compete in the Women’s F57 and F64 shot put events.
- September 6:
- Athletics for People with Disabilities: Meleane Falemaka (South) in the women’s F38 discus.
As the Games progress, Pacific nations will continue to bring their unique spirit and determination to the global stage, inspiring not only their home countries but also audiences around the world.
