Participants in the implementation of the Sahel Community Recovery and Stabilization Project (PCRSS) meet in Ouagadougou on Thursday, August 29, 2024. This is part of a workshop to present the Annual Investment Plans (PAI) of different municipalities in the Sahel. The workshop was chaired by Gisèle Tiendrébéogo, Regional Director for Economy and Planning and Head of the PRCSS Community Project in the Sahel.
The participants implementing the PRCSS project, from the municipalities of the aforementioned Sahel region and the centre, will review these PAIs (Annual Investment Plans).
The aim, as explained by Issa Kaboré, Director of Economy and Planning for the Sahel region and head of the PRCSS branch, is to come up with proposals that meet the needs of the people and are realistic.
Some participants’ views
This repatriation workshop was part of a process to identify the needs of the people in the Sahel, through which several activities were carried out. As part of the planned activities, there were, among others, community-based consultations to bring the needs of the communities to the community level so that they can take them into account in the investment plans.

Therefore, after receiving these PAIs, the actors continued to consult with the communities with the aim of reviewing them to see if what was proposed was feasible and realistic and if these activities were eligible at the PRCSS project level to the Regional Director. This was the rationale for this PAI return workshop.
Views from some of the participants in implementing PRCSS
Gisèle Tiendrébéogo, Head of the Sahel Community Recovery and Stabilization Project, who attended the event alongside the Regional Director, said their expectation was to defend the interests and needs of communities and municipalities so that they could truly participate in the 2025 Annual Investment Plan.

This view was also shared by Issa Ouédraogo, secretary general of the Dori Town Hall, who acknowledged that the aforementioned project (PRCSS), which began three years ago in his community, has had an impact. He went on to say that thanks to this project, parts of the town of Dori have solar panels installed.

In addition to electrification, the project will provide food and non-food items and income-generating activities to IDPs and host populations.
At the end of this workshop, it is expected that the annual plan will meet the needs of the people of the Sahel and be realistic and achievable.
