Traffic safety and business: State Greens don’t have good hair on blue-black parliament

But the Greens say little has been achieved so far. Citizen participation will be symbolic, and the challenges in traffic safety and business remain huge, which the Greens are skeptical about and now want to feel the pain with citizens.

The Green Party has arranged interviews for the media at the Malheureux church. It was not in vain: City Councillor François Benoy said the place would become a good example of how district design should not expire.

“We are in a very central part of Murrell. Here is the school, here is the church, here is the cultural center. Recently, there has been some restructuring of the roads or places here, but nothing has really been done to make this place really safe for traffic or to really allow for joyful coexistence.”

Speaking specifically about bicycles and referring to recent accidents on the national bicycle network, Francois Benoy said that traffic safety remains one of the main challenges. Then the council will miss out on active business opportunities. For example, in the old streets, vacancy will be a problem. There will be a lot of analysis, but no action will be taken.

Fabricio Costa made the following recommendations for Avenue da la Gare:

“Very concretely, this could mean, for example, transforming Railway Station Avenue into a pedestrian zone and rerouting buses through the Roadside, which would make the street more attractive for the whole area and certainly for business, where there are currently a lot of difficulties.”

In general, the municipality should buy and rent out more shops as well as state green spaces. DP and CSV organize so-called “Aperi-tours” where the voice of the citizens should be heard. This would be welcome, says environmentalist city councillor Linda Gaasch. But one receives the response that these are a kind of absenteeism and that many questions remain.

“How are the suggestions made during these meetings considered? How do we ensure that all citizens have a say? How exactly are the opinions raised here incorporated into the development plans of the districts? And the full reports produced by the independent office and subsequently released?”
