Michigan State Police announced that a private search and rescue company found the wreckage of the plane with two people aboard, including the pilot, near Bois Blanc Island in the state.

Although skeletal remains were found near the wreckage, an examination conducted by Northern Michigan University’s Forensic Anthropology Center determined the remains belonged to 56-year-old passenger H. Brooke Stauffer Jr.

– what happened?

In 2007, the Socata TB-20 plane piloted by Stover Jr.’s 52-year-old fiancée, Karen Dodds, crashed into Lake Huron on the U.S.-Canada border.

Although Dodds’ body was found two months after the accident, no trace of Stover Jr. or any wreckage of the plane was ever found.

A private company began the search in October 2023 at the request of Stauffer Jr.’s family.
