Proper care is the basic prerequisite for beautiful skin. Maybe this sentence seems cliché to you, but it’s perfectly okay to remind you. Even the most careful women sometimes make mistakes and leave their makeup on their faces overnight or occasionally avoid using SPF preparations. It is for this reason that we have compiled a list of beauty habits that you should definitely develop. If you have already done it – congratulations!

Ten beauty habits that will ensure you have glowing, soft skin:

1. I use moisturizer/lotion after showering

We all know that hot water dries out the skin, and creams and lotions are great for replenishing moisture and oils – if used regularly, of course. A small change in your care regimen will help make moisturizing your skin a habit, just like brushing your teeth. Keep your lotion on a shelf next to the bathtub (or in the shower). This will remind you to use it while your skin is still damp, at the latest within ten minutes after showering. If you wait longer, your skin will start to lose moisture. One more thing, use packaging with a lid that drops down, rather than packaging with a pump – this prevents bacteria from penetrating the lotion.

2. I protect my skin from the sun – every day!

Compulsive habits are generally unacceptable, unless it is to protect the skin from the sun (all year round). Experts recommend using an SPF factor (at least 30) every day and renewing the protective layer frequently. However, many women are bothered by the weight of these creams on the face (because of the added SPF!). Therefore, use products that are non-greasy and have a thinner consistency. Brown spots, wrinkles and parchment-like skin are enough to indicate the harmful effects of the sun, and they are most often seen on the neck of women who do not take protective measures. We are sure that you do not want to be one of them!

3. I remove my makeup every night

Ever since you started wearing makeup, you know that the combination of makeup and oily skin is disastrous and can lead to acne. In addition, makeup can bind free radicals from the air (e.g. from exhaust fumes) and retain them on the skin. Don’t wait until bedtime to clean your face – clean it as soon as you get home! So, tiredness is no longer an excuse. You can also keep moisturizing wipes for makeup removal on your bedside table. So it will always be at hand.

4. I wash my face after training

Many women, for various reasons, avoid showering at the gym after training, and thus develop breakouts on their face and body. That’s why experts recommend that you at least wear sweat-wicking clothing for training and keep wipes in your gym bag (preferably those with salicylic acid!). Immediately after training, apply them to your face, back and cleavage, then put on a clean cotton T-shirt. And of course, take a shower as soon as you get home.

5. I go to the dermatologist to check my moles every year.

Dermatological examination of moles in accordance with this dynamic is essential for the prevention of skin cancer. If it is easier for you, schedule all important examinations (systemic examination, gynecological examination, mammography and dermatological examination) during a relatively quiet period of the year, such as after the annual vacation or when the children start school. This way, you will be able to complete these tasks more easily without having to worry about each one separately.

6. I exfoliate regularly

By speeding up the natural process of removing dead cells from the skin’s surface, you can significantly improve its appearance. By age 30, this process slows down and it takes up to 28 days for the skin to fully regenerate. During this time, skin cells dry out and lose elasticity – unless you start the renewal process by exfoliating. Experts recommend using a gentle exfoliant once or twice a week and chemical peels (which dissolve the substances that hold dead cells on the skin) on the other two days of the week.

7. I don’t neglect hand care

Without a doubt, hands are most vulnerable to everything during the day – from adverse weather conditions and the work we do to frequent disinfection and insufficient or lack of care. To prevent dehydration of the nails and the skin of the hands, use moisturizing care products. The same rule applies to soap. Another tip: always have a hand cream with SPF at home (and in the office). Hands, like the face, are constantly exposed to the sun. At night, rub alpha-hydroxy acid lotion into the skin (it’s too heavy for daytime use) and, if the skin breaks out, use a cream with shea butter. To allow the skin to fully regenerate and for the cream to work more effectively, wear cotton gloves after this procedure.

8. I will wait patiently for the results

Waiting for the first results after introducing a new care regimen is a test of patience for many women. For example, a good anti-aging cream may show its first visible effects only after six weeks of use. So, do not give up. This rule also applies to skin lightening products as well as anti-acne products. On the other hand, if after six weeks you do not notice any improvement, it means that you do not like the particular preparation.

9. I clean my makeup brushes regularly

Over time, makeup residue and skin fat accumulate on brushes, becoming a fertile ground for bacterial growth. Ideally, you should wash your brushes once a week, but this is too ambitious and full of obligations for today’s pace. It is enough if you wash them once a month with warm water and hand soap or baby shampoo. Rinse the brushes, drain the water, shape them into their original shape, and wait for them to dry naturally.

10. I keep my hands away from my face

When acne appears on the face, there are few women who do not try to “solve” the problem themselves. But once you touch the skin with your fingers, you leave impurities on the skin that clog the pores. So, how to be disciplined? First of all, you must learn to control yourself, thus preventing anyone from trying to “intervene” in your face. Then, throw away the magnifying mirror at home and occupy your hands with something else. If you succumb, apply a hydrocortisone-based cream to the skin, which will reduce inflammation and the formation of permanent scars.
