Saint Dominic– The Dominican Republic will host the 2025 Spanish World Debate Championship (CMUDE), which will be held from July 12 to 20 next year. The most important debate circuit, where more than 15 Spanish-speaking countries meet.

This information was provided by Gerand Ventura, director of the Educational Leadership Program at the Ministry of Education of the Dominican Republic, who stated that CMUDE is the Spanish version of the World University Debating Championships (WUDC), the most important university debate championship worldwide.

Ventura explained that the competition is held in a world parliament format, based on the British parliament format.

He said CMUDE has a Judges and Advocates Manual that is regularly updated to reflect the specificities of the Spanish-language circuit.

One of the new features that will be introduced at CMUDE 2025 is an innovative integrated multi-channel response system supported by 25 volunteers. It will centralise the queries and communications of participants, providing a single and efficient platform to cater to their needs.

Ventura also noted that a training headquarters will be established for the first time. The team will be committed to providing training courses throughout the year to ensure that participants and organizers are prepared to meet the challenges of the event with excellence.

“Academics and debate enthusiasts look forward to hosting this event in the Dominican Republic, which is becoming a unique opportunity to exchange ideas and strengthen critical thinking,” Ventura said.
