BANGKOK: Nearly 60 people, including five Singaporeans, are still being treated at three hospitals in Bangkok, Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital said in a statement on Wednesday (May 22).
Twenty patients are being treated in the intensive care units (ICU) of two hospitals, while 38 patients are hospitalized.
Of the five Singaporeans in the three hospitals, two are in intensive care units.

The 58 patients are distributed among three hospitals: 41 at Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital, 15 at Samitivej Sukhumvit Hospital, and 2 at Bangkok Hospital.
As of 1pm on Wednesday, 27 patients had been discharged. Singapore Airlines said the five passengers on flight SQ321 will return to Singapore on Wednesday and one crew member will fly back to Singapore on Thursday.
Singapore Airlines said 74 passengers and six crew members remained in Bangkok, including family members and loved ones receiving medical treatment.
Among the patients at Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital, nine patients underwent successful surgeries on Tuesday. Five more patients are expected to undergo surgery on Wednesday.
Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital is approximately 20 minutes’ drive from Suvarnabhumi Airport. Samitivej is a private healthcare group with seven hospitals in Thailand. The first hospital was established in 1979.
According to its website, Samitivej Srinakarin Medical Center has 400 beds and provides a range of medical services to Thai and foreign citizens.
Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital is located in eastern Bangkok, near Suvarnabhumi International Airport.
“Patients can be transferred from the hospital to the airport in the shortest possible time,” the website says.
Six Malaysians in intensive care unit
Nine Malaysians are currently receiving treatment.
At Samitivej Sukhumvit Hospital, one patient is in the ICU and two patients are in the inpatient unit.
At Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital, five patients are in the intensive care unit and one is in the hospital’s inpatient department.
A Malaysian embassy official who spoke on condition of anonymity told CNA that of the six patients at Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital, one was a male crew member and the other five were members of a group traveling together.
They range in age from 31 to 65 and are being treated for head, neck and spinal injuries.
Embassy officials said no one’s life was in danger. The crew member has undergone two surgeries and his family will fly to Bangkok to visit him.
An elderly female passenger was unconscious, the official added.
