CEBU CITY, Philippines — Passengers need not be afraid to report picky drivers who ask them to get off their bus because of their weight.
The agency made the recommendation in response to reports circulating online of a jeepney driver body-shaming a passenger and asking him to get off his bus due to his weight.
The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board of Central Visayas (LTFRB-7) advises passengers in the region to report “picky” drivers to its office and the Land Transportation Office (LTO-7).

“It is better to do it with both (LTO and LTFRB) together. He will file a complaint with the LTO and with us,” said Eduardo Montealto Jr., director of the LTFRB-7.
Montealto said passengers must report the vehicle’s license plate number, area and photo of the accident date to the Land Transport Authority and Land Transport Control.
He said this would allow the Land Transport Authority to identify who the picky drivers are and the Land Transport Authority to know the franchise of the vehicle.
“The LTO is the best because they can still sanction the operator and then they will pass it on to us. When they pass it on to us, we will show the operator why,” Montelto said.
Moreover, he added that his biggest concern was the lack of discipline and courtesy among drivers, not the operators. He said drivers must maintain professionalism.
