Nassau County Police Chief Stephen Fitzpatrick told the media that DeLucia Jr. became furious about the decision, grabbed a Mossberg 12-gauge pump-action shotgun and fired 12 rounds, killing his three siblings and a niece, before running to the front yard, yelling what he had just done and then shooting himself.

The victims included his sisters, Joanne Kearns and Tina Hammond, and his brother, Frank DeLucia, and his niece, Victoria Hammond, 30.

Joanna Kearns has been identified as one of the victims.

Fitzpatrick said the family “gathered in the study at my mother’s house” waiting for the real estate agent.

DeLucia “approached them from the rear of the house and fired 12 shots from the kitchen, striking all four,” Capt. Fitzpatrick said.

“He then picked up the weapon and walked out to the front yard, shouting about what was happening.

“A neighbor heard him do it and called 911, and that person was our 911 caller. And then he … killed himself.”

When neighbors saw him screaming in the front yard with a gun, they called police, but moments later he shot himself.

“We heard a scream, it was Joe screaming, and then a gunshot,” a neighbor told The New York Times. New York Post.

“I was shocked. I never thought this could happen.

“We heard he was very upset about it,” the neighbor said of the property dispute.

“He didn’t know where to go, he’d lived there his whole life. One of the siblings said she would take care of him, she would let him come live with her. Obviously, that didn’t sound good to him.”

Another neighbor said DeLucia Jr. would lose his temper and yell in the street when he became frustrated.

Locals say he had lived in the house all his life and for a man easily depressed, being forced to move would have been a big irritation.

One senior police officer described the scene as “one of the most horrific I have ever seen”.
