USA – The goalkeeper expressed his gratitude for the support he received.

Nicolas Hagen and his club Columbus Crew were declared the League Cup champions after the team scored a goal in the opening minutes of the tournament, a great achievement for the national team goalkeeper considering he started in the final against Los Angeles FC.

“I’m happy with it, happy with the result and the support, because I didn’t achieve it alone, it was with the support of my family and the Guatemalan fans. I have pressure, but it’s good, it’s for everyone,” said the goalkeeper after lifting the cup.

He added: “This is true for my family, for the people of Guatemala, who have always supported me in this country and in all the stadiums, for the team and for everyone who has supported me in good times and bad.”

On what his first title with the Crew means: “It’s exciting, it’s been a difficult year for me personally because I left Norway for Israel, then I had to leave, and then I came to a merged team, but I’m fulfilling my goals little by little.”

Hagen will now focus on the Guatemala national team as it prepares for Sunday’s friendly against Uruguay and the start of the CONCACAF Nations League.
