St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): A closing ceremony was held on August 23, marking the end of the two-week Marine Cadet Camp sponsored by the St. Kitts-Nevis Defense Force and Coast Guard.

A total of 41 naval cadets from St. Kitts and Nevis graduated from the training camp. Some naval cadets received multiple honors: Most Disciplined, Best Drill, Best Navigator, Best Seaman, Best Seaman, Best Leader, Best One Star and Best Two Star.

The closing ceremony was attended by Mr. Glenroy Blanchette, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of National Security, Major Koyode Sutton, Commander of the St. Kitts and Nevis Defence Force (SKNDF), Captain Kenish Garnette, Commandant of the Coast Guard, and families of the naval cadets.

Among the colorful activities held, the midshipmen attended the Sunday service at Antioch Baptist Church on August 18.

Ms. Charisse Gumbs and Mr. Terrence Dolphin each received a thank you gift in recognition of their contributions to the camp.

A similar training camp was held in April, graduating 53 naval cadets who learned skills such as nautical terminology, swim training, drill, first aid, fire extinguishing agents and firefighting, basic navigation, knots and splices.

Meanwhile, St. Kitts and Nevis hosts weekly Naval Cadet Corps activities for students aged between 12 and 18 years old.

Instruction focuses not only on physical abilities and health but also on soft skills such as leadership, citizenship, organisation, self-discipline, team-building skills, respect, stress management, managing peer pressure, self-esteem and confidence.
