San Diego.– Ángel Ovalles, General Manager of Águilas Cibaeñas, announces the hiring of three new players for the team. Catcher Michael Perez and Relays Evan Sisk and Michael Kelly Focus on the new winter season of LIDOM 2024-25.
Perez, a Puerto Rican native who is a two-handed hitter and excellent defense behind the plate, will be in an Aguilucho uniform for the third straight year and his fourth in the Dominican League.
Last season, Perez hit .302/.439/.434 with nine RBIs in 20 games. For his career, he hit .254 with five homers and 26 RBIs in 118 official at-bats.
The 32-year-old catcher played six MLB seasons with the Tampa Bay Rays, Pittsburgh Pirates and New York Mets.
Evan Sisk
Sisk is a left-handed reliever with six years of organized baseball experience, having played for the St. Louis Cardinals, Minnesota Twins and Kansas City Royals.
He has emerged as one of the top bullpen pitchers at the AAA level in 2024. He plays for the Royals’ Omaha Storm Chasers and is 6-2 with a 1.69 ERA, 11 saves in 49 games, and 70 strikeouts in 48 innings.
Sisk, 27, will be one of the choices head coach Manny Garcia will have to make in the final inning of the game.
Michael Kelly
Kelly is a 31-year-old veteran who perfectly capitalized on his first extended MLB opportunity with the Oakland Athletics this season.
The right-hander went 3-2 with a 2.59 ERA in 28 saves with 22 strikeouts and 10 earned runs in 31.1 innings.
Kelly began his professional baseball career in 2012 and has pitched for six organizations.
In MLB, he has played for the Philadelphia Phillies in 2022, the Cleveland Crimson Guard in 2023, and the Athletics this season. In his career, he has a 2.94 PCL in 46 games.
Like Sisk, Kelly will be a key part of Cibaeno’s final minutes.
For Kelly, this will be his first time playing Caribbean baseball, and for Sisk as well.
Considering the experience and track record of these three foreign players, the Águilas Cibaenías Baseball Operations Department is confident that they will have a satisfactory performance in the 2024-25 season.
