Sven-Goran Eriksson, the Swedish football manager who coached England from 2001 to 2006, died on Monday of pancreatic cancer at the age of 76, his agent said.

“He died peacefully at home this morning surrounded by his family,” Eriksson’s agent Bo Gustafsson told AFP.

Eriksson has extensive club management experience and has coached Manchester City, Lazio and the England men’s national football team. In January this year, he revealed that he “could only live for a year at most” after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
