CEBU CITY, Philippines – The ARQ Builders team recorded its second consecutive victory with a thrilling 73-71 win over Matia’s Foodhaus in the Mandaue Pride Basketball Association (MPBA) Commissioner’s Cup Season 3 on Saturday, August 24, at the Cebu Port Authority (CPA) Coliseum.
After winning the title last season, ARQ Builders faced a strong challenge from Matia’s Foodhaus in a match that saw three lead changes and two ties, leaving fans on edge.

Ian Ortega was the standout player for ARQ Builders, coming close to a double-double with 18 points, nine rebounds and four assists.
His performance was crucial in securing the victory. Jestoni Baklaan also made important contributions, scoring 11 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists to help ARQ Builders win the Elite Championship with an undefeated 2-0 record.
Despite a strong performance from Kyle Dajalos, who scored a game-high 27 points, Matia’s Foodhaus was unable to win, falling to 0-2 in the league.
In the Super League, Team Void and Flago Prayboys both improved to 2-1, albeit with opposite results. Void defeated Slowgrind by a dominant 108-59, while the Prayboys narrowly defeated Urestore by 82-79.

Jhon Rey Gequilan led the way for Void, scoring 22 points to go along with five rebounds and four assists. Joshua Ybañez scored 16 points, while James Balili and Isiah Nanoy each added 12 points to lead Void’s 49-point win.
The Prayboys’ victory was hard-won, with the entire team working together, with Kenny Genobia and Stephen Gonzalez contributing a combined 33 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Kibs Genobia contributed 14 points and 9 rebounds, and Mark Yahn contributed 10 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assist and 3 steals.
