“Oh no, what happened?” the nervous pop star stammered as Lowe pulled his guitar from under the table.

“Are you going to serenade me? Are you going to sing to me?” she asked, seeming to grow more and more nervous.

“I won’t sing to you,” Lowe whispered, slowly strumming a chord over and over again. “But I will tell you how it all started.”

Carpenter then looked bewildered and mumbled, “Okay…while…singing.”

As if trying to draw some profound meaning from his actions, Lowe looked thoughtfully at the ceiling and explained, “There are many ways to start an interview, and there are many ways to start a song.”

“Oh no…I’m going to cry,” Carpenter responded with a nervous laugh.

Fans rushed to comment on the interview, and while many gave the chat a positive review overall and loved Lowe’s carefully crafted questions, many couldn’t help but poke fun at the awkward opening line.

One fan laughed: “The fear in her eyes when that guy pulled out his guitar was every girls worst nightmare.”

“Oh my god, look Barbie Kens Barbie You’ll understand,’ joked another.

A third person commented that Carpenter made the scene worth watching, commenting: “Yeah…it was like a nightmare but her reaction made it brilliant”.

Another added: “Every time Zane does this I get horrified!”
