In a press release dated August 24, 2024, the President of the Alliance for the Sahel (AES), Mali’s head of state, Colonel Assimi Goita, expressed on behalf of his counterparts from Burkina Faso and Niger “sincere condolences and deep sympathy to the people of the AES alliance devastated by the floods”.
While wishing the injured a speedy recovery, Colonel Asimi Goita praised the efforts of the three Eastern European governments and the mutual assistance and solidarity of the people of Eastern European countries in providing assistance to the victims.
“It is with great emotion that I follow the deadly floods of recent days, which have caused numerous casualties and significant material damage in the AES federal area.
In these painful circumstances, on behalf of the President of Faso, His Excellency Captain Ibrahim Traoré, the Head of State, President of the National Council for the Defence of the Fatherland, Brigadier General Abdourahmane Tiani of Niger, and on my own behalf, on behalf of the people of the AES Union, I would like to express my sincere condolences and deep sympathy to the people of the AES who have been devastated by these natural disasters.
I wish a speedy recovery to the injured and pray for God’s mercy to grant eternal rest to the souls of the deceased.
I pay tribute to the efforts of the Governments of Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger, and to the strong demonstration of solidarity and solidarity shown by the peoples of African countries in providing assistance to the victims of the disaster.
