More about Vadi Tanuf
The Tanuf Wadi in Nizwa Governorate is one of the most important and beautiful natural attractions for tourists. The flow of the wadi, the water of the canals and the springs form a beautiful picture that we rarely see at this time of the year.
Tanuf Falaj is one of the most famous and oldest waterfalls in Nizwa Governorate, its name is linked to a long history as it passes between the Tanuf Fort and the Mosque of Imam Salim bin Rashid al Kharousi. This waterfall was previously known as Falaj (Al Hayqi) and was built before the Ya’ariba era.
The wadi flows down the hillside and consists of three tributaries: The main tributary gathers water from the wadi’s source and flows through the middle of the “Al Hijri” valley east of the “Al Nathd” cave. This mountain and the third tributary is called “Al Suwayr” which feeds the wadi as it flows.
