Jamaica advanced to the 2024 CFU Boys Under-14 Challenge Series finals with a 3-1 win over Puerto Rico in the Division One semi-final at the Dwight York Stadium in Trinidad on Friday.
The young Reggae Boyz, led by substitute Kelvin “DJ” Brown’s two second-half goals, will face French Guiana, which beat Trinidad 4-3 in the second semifinal, in Sunday’s final.
Puerto Rico took the lead before halftime, scoring Jamaica’s first goal of the series. The breakthrough came in the 35th minute when Jamaican goalkeeper Marcodian Spence fouled Fabian Sals Diaz on the edge of the box and Wilfred Reyes Rivera converted the penalty.

Jamaica fought back in the second half, with Brown replacing Kevonne Holloway at the start of the period. Jamaica took the lead in the 60th minute through Kyle Hase, who took advantage of a partially blocked shot from Brown. The ball landed perfectly at Hase’s feet, and he fired it into the wide-open goal to make it 2-1.
Brown scored his second goal of the game deep into stoppage time to cement Jamaica’s victory. After Perez Colon misjudged a header from Kalando Morris, Brown was in the right position to head the ball over the goal line, securing Jamaica’s spot in the final.
Jamaica will face French Guiana in the final on Sunday as they aim to extend their unbeaten run and capture the title.
