MIAMI (CNN) — Voters in South Florida headed to the polls last Tuesday for primary elections that will decide important races for the November general election, including seats in the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives, as well as key positions in Miami-Dade and Broward counties.

In the Miami-Dade County mayoral race, incumbent Mayor Daniella Levine Cava was successfully re-elected with more than 57% of the vote, thus avoiding a runoff election in November.

Levine Cava defeated six opponents, including Manny Cid and Alex Otaola. After her victory, the Democrat thanked voters and reiterated her commitment to the community.

“I am so grateful for your trust and I am honored to serve for another four years,” she said in The X after learning the results. “I am committed to working tirelessly for our community to ensure their voices are heard and their needs are met. “Together, we will continue to make a positive impact in Miami-Dade County,” he added.
