Scholar Tang Weixiong told Le Monde that the construction of a bridge between Shenzhen and Zhongshan could bring more tourists to Macau.
Notably, after seven years, the bridge is expected to open to traffic at the end of this month, which Samuel Tong said will improve the efficiency of the transportation system, support the connection and logistics services of people in the region, and accelerate the integration of Macau with other parts of the Greater Bay Area.
The president of the Macau Institute of Management also pointed out that Shenzhen is one of China’s most advanced cities, with a high average income for residents, and is also an important city in the high-tech and economic fields in the context of the Greater Bay Area. Therefore, the reduced transportation time from the construction of the new bridge will benefit the region, especially because the ship schedule is not flexible compared to land transportation.
Tang Weiqiang said that with the opening of the new bridge, more exhibition industry merchants will come to Macau.
