MEMPHIS, Tenn. (LPL) — Mud Island, the city’s semi-abandoned tourist attraction, may be restored to its former glory following a project to create a multi-sensory experience at the museum site.

The new concept, titled “Baron von Oppein and the River of Time,” combines virtual reality with a physical environment and will take the public on a journey into a creative world.

Thanks to the brainchild of local visionary artist Christopher Reyes, the new place will be at the forefront of sensor technology and will have a physical interface through which viewers can interact with both the real and the digital virtual.

A group of visual artists will assist Reyes in his revolutionary project to transform the water of the Mississippi River into a “River of Time.”

Reyes is in negotiations with the authorities, who have approved the project, and is currently raising funds to implement it, which is expected to cost US$10 million.
