(Daily News reporter Ji-na Jeong) Shares of GE Vernova (GEV), a global power system construction company, fell on the 23rd (local time) due to problems with the blades of offshore wind turbines that were being debugged.
GE Vernova shares fell 2.8% to $180.81 in midday trading today.
GE Vernova said a turbine blade failed during commissioning at the Dogger Bank wind farm it is developing off the northeast coast of England, Barron’s reported. No one was injured as a result.
This is not the first time that GE Vernova’s wind turbines have had problems. Last July, while participating in the large-scale offshore wind project “Vineyard Wind 1” in the United States, a blade broke and debris was washed up on Nantucket Beach.
On July 17, after the Nantucket accident, GE Vernova shares fell 9.3%.
