But on the night of August 22, 2004, at the United Center in Chicago, the tension disappeared. The tension gradually subsided over the week, as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Bernie Sanders and bill and Hillary Clinton All from It’s basically the same hymn book.But Thursday Electric Voice Kamala Harris. Throughout my entire adult life, there have only been two Democratic parties. Now, there is only one. Harris — surprising, unexpected, yet powerful and unmistakable — is the architect of that unity.

This is still going to be a close, ugly, dirty, heart-pounding election because on the other side of the equation is an ugly, dirty man. But one thing is clear. Kamala Harris is a historic figure. How she has met this challenge — her poise, her strength, her sure footedness — is breathtaking. I kind of thought, kind of worried, that tonight might be a little disappointing. The first three nights were so successful, so this one might be a little disappointing. As good as she has been over the past month, on this impossibly grand and high-pressure stage, maybe she might be… OK.

She’s amazing. She’s saying to every Democrat, from the left to the center: We have only one future, and I’m the one who will lead us to it.
