The screening of this rare film was coordinated by the Heliopolis Club Film Committee, directed by Ahmed Wagih, and the Institute for the Creative Development of Film, directed by Professor of Criticism Dr. Naji Fawzi.The Right to Love by international star Omar Sharif,The organizer of the society’s screenings, director Ahmed Al-Adly, gave a copy of the film to the club’s film committee, who acquired it and mixed the entire film so that there was a good French version, instead of the dubbed Italian version and another French version of very poor quality, which is why it was not shown in Egypt until more than fifty years later.

The idea is based on a group of French citizens who were arrested in a clandestine movement following the civil unrest in France in 1968. How did these unrest spark the wrath of political leaders, who feared a civil war? Writer Perry “Omar” Sharif, who was arrested along with a large group of people and exiled to an island, was forced to work as a stone crusher, isolated from the world for more than three years.

Another touching scene is when a very large number of prisoners suddenly turn into a state of gluttony, as if they were transformed into wolves in human form the moment Helen appears as the first woman to set foot on the island. It is the hope from afar, the deprivation of sex that greatly affects their human behavior, and it is the prisoners’ attack on her cape that outlines their psychological fantasies.

The film does not rely on a lot of dialogues, but focuses on the performances of Omar Sharif and Florida, and their eyes, expressing the heat of desire, cruelty, injustice between them, and the heat of love, especially for her. Can’t wait to visit him, “I want to paint my eyes with his eyes.” The film has a very beautiful meaning, focusing on the idea of love between a wife and a husband that is loyal despite external quarrels.
